I got this as a gift for a friend that collects music jewelry box. It is in fact bigger than the picture shows. I find it very cure, and my friend also like. It is adequate for a young girl's first jewelry box.

It works like a music box--when you open it, the music sounds. But it only runs for several minutes and there seems to be a battery failure, but I cannot find the openging for battery replacement, so my daughter just use it as a "jewelry box".

My children have had these jewelry boxes for about 2 years. The ballerina broke within the first year. I am shopping for new ones right now, and thought I would let others know in case you are considering these. They might be OK for older children - but my kids were about 4 and 2 when they received these.

My wife bought this as a birthday present for a neighbor girl about the same age as our daughter. She loves to play with my wifes childhood balerina music box whenever she is at our home. My wife did not like the way the box looked specifically that the surface wasn't paintend it is just a sticker like veneer that was already pealling at the corners when it arrived. The song was rather annoying and the ballerina did not have a "real dress". By "real dress" I mean one made of some sort of fabric like material (addmitedly this is evident in the pictures provided). We will be promptly returning. I gave it 2 because I still think your average 4 year old would have liked it.
